Welcome to the Wine Club

1013937_wine.jpgOur wine club is for people who like to experience an evening of good wine and good food.

We aim to bring to you the most interesting wines from around the world and pair these with delicious complementing dishes prepared by our team of award winning chefs.

Our wine nights are special as we invite the producers of some of the most innovative, unusual and inspiring wineries in the world to our little pub and you get the chance to hear from them how their wines are made, developed and what makes them taste the way they do. The craftsmanship of these wines can always be seen and tasted, making for an informative and fun evening.

These events are each unique, as we do not often get the the chance to invite the same producer back.

So far we have had events with wine makers from Chablis, Argentina, Lebanon, Australia, Italy and more.

We invite people to become members of the club so that we can send them an email with details of events. These wine tastings are not held on a regular basis as we wait until we have the opportunity for a fantastic guest producer.

Château Musar Dinner

Viticulture in Lebanon was introduced 6000 years ago by the Phoenicians who traded their wines throughout the Mediterranean and planted the vine in southern Europe. The vineyards of Château Musar are located at an altitude of over 3,000 feet (1,000 meters) in the Bekaa Valley where the vines are sheltered by the surrounding mountains running parallel to the Mediterranean coast. The red wines are made from a blend of different grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan.

The white wines are made from a blend of Obeideh and Merwah, which are native to the Bekaa Valley and Mount Lebanon. According to the legend, Obeideh and Merwah were taken back to Europe with the Crusaders and are the likely ancestors of Chardonnay and Semillon respectively.

Serge Hochar has won many awards for his extraordinary achievements, determination and dedication to producing wines during the difficult years of the Lebanese Civil War.
